Camp kitchen dinner
Dinner tonight prepared and eaten in the camp kitchen. We have our books and will hold out here til the kitchen closes at about 9pm
North Haven
This is our last beach day before we head inland - it's a bit sad!
We spent the day sheltering from the sun reading our books or down at the beach.
The water is pretty cold but the waves we're huge and it was heaps of fun. It was great watching all the surfers catching waves.
Reid managed to get the marquee up and anchored down very solidly - it was perfect in the afternoon sun

Silver Sand Holiday Park
It was hard to find a campsite in this area that would take a 2 night booking at this time of year. So on the weekend before we left when I tried this place and they said yes, I was relieved! When I booked the lady did say we'd be in the overflow area and there was no shade - I thought that would be ok, we'd be in some field miles away from anything. It turns out the overflow area is outside the main campsite, on the side of the road at the back of the town shops!! One of those shops is a bakery - they start work about midnight and finish about 4am. Then the rubbish trucks arrive at 6.30am to empty the bins!
So not a lot of serenity here!!
On a side note - our neighbours are bizarro us!!
They have a very similar tent, but blue and green with the tall bit in the sleeping area instead of the annex. They have a 4 door blue Mazda hatchback. They have the same grey fold out table as us. They played cards at night (although that's a bit of a stretch - it's probably a pretty common camping activity!)

Lake Eildon
We headed up to Lake Eildon for the Australia Day long weekend and stayed in the National Park at Devil's Cove.
There was a big party at the campsite on the first night which was a bit obnoxious, but we were pretty tired and thankfully we weren't in the same section, otherwise it was a really nice spot.
I'm not sure what I think about the lake - it was beautiful, but it looked pretty gross for swimming - it would be better if you had a boat.
We walked through the Candlebark Nature Walk - there were so many butterflies and it was really pretty.
I tried for ages to get pictures of the butterflies but they just blend into background - you'd walk over a bridge or by a fallen log and 20 or 30 butterflies would burst out from below.
Then we hauled ourselves up the Merlo's Lookout Track - it was a short walk, but all up hill. We were pretty pleased with ourselves when we make it to the summit.

Are you sure we're going the right way??

Nearly there

YAY we made it!!

This little fella just wandered out on the road in front of us

The lookout was stunning but the road was so windy and some of the on-coming driving was a bit erratic! Wouldn't recommend for the faint of heart

Christmas in Port Macquarie
Arrived in Port Macquarie and set up for a Christmas feast with Ange & Phil
I went for a run along the beach on Christmas morning - the weather was beautiful and there were lots of people about, families picnicking, walking the dog, swimming at the beach
We all went for a dip at the beach, but the surf was huge so we were getting a bit battered!
We had a feast for lunch - salads, chops, ham and after a afternoon nap pavlova!
Great day all round
Now we're back on the road heading for Woodford!
