Bulk ice
What a great machine! Bulk ice and filtered water. $4 gets you 10kg ice straight into your esky or 8kg in a bag. And 30c per litre for water. The machine is just sitting in the corner of a shopping centre car park.
Boxing Day
We've snuck down to the surf club for a breakie wrap and coffee while Ange & Phil are packing the van - what a way to start the day!!

Cafe Valetta
Finally some decent food!!
Stopped in Toowoomba for lunch at Cafe Valetta. A barbershop quartet stood on the balcony to sing a few songs. It's actually nice enough to sit outside - in comparison to all the other stops which have been way too hot!
New Dynasty
And so the fine dining tour continues ... no actually dinner wasn't so bad.
I had red curry prawn and while it didn't look like any red curry I've ever had, it had an essential ingredient for this point on the tour - vegetables!!

Rogue leaf
Somehow a leaf found its way into the aircon fan and was making a continuous ticking sound! We were worried the aircon was breaking down but Reid managed to find his way through the back of the glovebox to the rogue leaf and fix the problem! Phew!
Road tripping
We're finally underway!! After almost two hours of technical difficulties trying to get the audiobook downloaded!
For a chance we were actually ready to go in time without too much stress and then the audiobook saga began!
Anyway, we're off now - Parkes here we come!!
Nu Nu
After a decent rating by the Australian Good Food Guide we were expecting an impressive dinner. The menu recommended dishes were designed to be shared. The table was dressed with sharing plates and the meals were presented on the table in a shared manor. Expect the food was plated in a designer style so splitting them in half for sharing was near impossible ...
Reid was far from impressed. Flavours were a bit too subtle for the lavish presentation
Overall: sad face
I'm only including this photo cos it represents the meal quite well...
Harrison's
Since we decided to take this holiday I'd been looking forward to going to Harrison's in Port Douglas just for their lemon meragine pie. It wasn't structured the same as we had it last time - but the taste was just as great!!

Mount Alexandra Lookout
This lookout suffers from a similar problem to many Australian lookouts - a bit overgrown so there is only a very limited spot where you can admire the view, and of course everyone is clambering to get a photo
Beautiful tho!!!
The Little Larder
Out for a drive, we've stopped in Port Douglas for breakfast - at the Little Larder cafe
Food is actually quite reasonable!
